Tariffs, Taxes & Shipping to the United States

(Updated for August 2025 Tariff Changes)

From August 29, 2025, the U.S. has removed the de minimis exemption for all international shipments. This means all goods imported into the U.S., regardless of value or country of origin (including the UK), are now subject to import duties, taxes, and clearance charges — even for orders under $800 USD.

This change affects all shipments, including individual purchases of footwear.

FAQs (Updated August 2025)

Q: Will I pay any import duties or taxes when ordering from the U.S.?
A: Yes — starting August 29, 2025, all shipments entering the U.S. from the UK are subject to import duties and clearance charges, regardless of value. The former $800 duty-free threshold no longer applies. We offer DDP (delivery duty paid) shipping services at checkout to ensure you are covered.

If your order ships via postal services (like Royal Mail International), a temporary flat-rate tariff may apply (e.g., $80–$200 per item) during the transition period until February 28, 2026. After that, standard import duties will apply based on product value.

Q: Where do your Berwick 1707 shoes ship from?
A: We ship directly from the United Kingdom. All Berwick shoes are made in Spain and are shipped from our UK location to customers in the U.S.

Q: How long does shipping to the U.S. take?
A: We use reliable, tracked couriers like DHL or Royal Mail International. Delivery typically takes 2–7 working days, though customs processing may add 1–2 days.

Q: What if I want to buy multiple pairs of shoes?
A: Since the de minimis exemption has been removed, there's no benefit in splitting orders under $800. All shipments now require import processing. We recommend ordering what you need in a single shipment to streamline customs clearance.

What to Expect Upon Delivery

  • Import duties and taxes will be assessed upon entry into the U.S. based on the current U.S. tariff rates for footwear.

  • Some courier services (like DHL) may handle customs clearance and charge you directly for duty and processing fees before delivery.

  • Select DDP at checkout to ensure you are paying your duty and tax upfront to us. It will speed things up at customs in the US and avoid you paying more than you should!
