Lasts
The last is simply the form (often a block of wood or resin) on which the leather shoes are made. It is a fundamental part of the process of shoemaking and provides the shape and aesthetic of the design as well as the structure for the shoe itself. Every shoe is made on a last and they can differ greatly in terms of look and size. It's important to have an idea of the shape you like, as well as the fit. The notes below from our various manufacturers will give you some ideas and these along with the internal lengths given on our sizing page should help you make a more informed decision about the right choice for you.

Trickers
Trickers have two main last shapes, the 4444 and the 4497 lasts, both designed in 1937 to celebrate the coronation of King George VI. 4444 is synonymous with the Bourton heavy brogue country shoe and the 4497 is used to produce Trickers famous country boot, the Stow.
