Goodyear Welted Leather Shoes by Berwick

Crafted and manufactured in Almansa, Spain, Berwick 1707 uses traditional shoe-making methods like the Goodyear welting process patented by Charles Goodyear Jr. some 150 years ago. Traditionally designed and made, the Berwick shoe collection includes a wide range of boots, shoes and accessories. Made from the finest European and American leathers as well as a variety of soles, both leather and rubber.

Berwick Shoes

Shop the most formal of dress shoes: the Berwick 1707 Oxford shoe, with its closed lacing and timeless design in both leather and suede. Choose brogued Oxfords for added flair or clean, sleek wholecut Oxfords made from a single piece of leather.

Berwick’s sophisticated Monk Strap shoes feature a buckle strap rather than the traditional lacing system for a smart silhouette, perfect for formal and smart-casual dress.

Berwick Boots

Sleek in design, the casual slip-on Berwick Chelsea boot is perfect for those less formal, more casual occasions. Laid-back casual takes form in the Berwick Chukka boot combining a playful design with comfort and casual style. Or relax into The Berwick Derby boot with casual bottom styles like jeans and chinos.

Berwick Loafers

Slip-on and slide-off ever-popular penny loafers, fun tassel loafers, sleek profiled loafers or a pair of relaxed suede loafers. Find your signature Berwick 1707 loafer and exude cool class, effortlessly. From timeless evening footwear to mid-week classics, you’ll find it all and Goodyear welted too.

Each Berwick loafer carries the staple Goodyear welt, just as all Berwick shoes do, providing longevity in both wear and style.

Berwick 1707 FAQs

Are Berwick shoes true to size?

Most Berwick 1707 shoes are true to size. Please check each shoe’s description as we will outline any sizing anomalies.

Measuring your foot for Berwick 1707 shoes?

With a piece of paper and pen or pencil trace around your foot. Measure the longest length. Repeat for the other foot and use the longest measurement of both feet to determine the best size. Use the sizing charts on the product page to find the upper nearest size for the Berwick 1707 footwear range.

Ensure that you have ½ inch in space between the tips of your toes and the edge of the shoe. The shoes should not feel tight upon initially trying them. Always stand up and test the shoes when trying them on for the first time.

Where are Berwick shoes made?

Berwick shoes are made in Almansa, Spain. Almansa is known for its high-quality shoemaking tradition, and Berwick 1707 is a well-regarded brand that produces Goodyear welted shoes using traditional craftsmanship and premium materials.

How does Goodyear welting work?

The traditional Goodyear welt, as found on Berwick 1707 shoes, is a handmade manufacturing process.

The entire process consists of around 200 manual operations. A welt is initially added to the bottom edge of the upper leathers. The welt could be a thin slither of leather or rubber. The welt and upper leathers are then fixed to a canvas rib that is finally cemented to the bottom of the shoe's insole for a high-quality, long-lasting Goodyear welted shoe.

How many times can you resole a pair of Berwick 1707 Goodyear Welted shoes?

On average, Goodyear welted loafers, boots and shoes can be resolled up to five times. This however does depend on the condition of the shoes. If you take care of your uppers you could be enjoying your Berwick’s for (almost) a lifetime.
